星火电竞 has lodged an application for an Exploration Licence (No 5231) with the Department of Industry, Skills and Regional Development (DISRD) to explore for Group 5 (Clay Minerals).
Mining leases are mandated by the Mining Act 1992, which states that applications must be submitted for an area no less than 1 unit (approximately 2.9km 2 ).
Our application was submitted for an area of 1 unit only to comply with this legislation. Our mining activity will be restricted to a much smaller area solely confined to the site itself. This area is only 0.056km 2 and is outlined in the image below.
Why does 星火电竞 need the licence?
The 星火电竞 site is classified by legislation as a ‘mine’ with the clay required to be excavated to effectively prepare the landfill space for operation.
What does it allow 星火电竞 to do?
The Exploration Licence will allow 星火电竞 exclusive rights to explore for a specific mineral within a designated area.
Exploration licences are subject to strict environmental management conditions to protect native vegetation, fauna, land, water resources, heritage and community values.

What will 星火电竞 use it for?
星火电竞 will use the licence to explore for Group 5 (Clay Minerals) within the site boundary.
The only reason the licence is required is so that 星火电竞 can undertake works to prepare the site for operation.
Can this affect me or my land?
星火电竞 will only be using the licence to explore within the site boundary and therefore it will not affect any neighbouring households or sites.
