Dewatering is required to remove excess storm water (rainfall runoff) which has accumulated in the old quarry pit void and smaller sediment dams on the site over the last several years.
Our dewatering project will be commencing shortly and is expected to take approximately three months to complete. Water recovered from the void is carefully treated before its controlled release into Blaxland Creek.
Extensive studies have been completed by various experts over the last two years in consultation with the NSW Environmental Protection Authority to develop an appropriate dewatering program.
The pattern of water release will not be continuous and seeks to mimic the naturally intermittent flows of Blaxland Creek and its wet and dry spells in order to protect stream integrity and ecology.
